The Hungarian Reformed Church during the USSR (1945-1989). The history and geopolitics of a confession.
As World War Two ended, Moscow’s influence quickly spread in Eastern and Central Europe, imposing its anti-religious ideal to what came to be known as the Eastern Bloc. About Hans Jonas and Theodicy
Hans Jonas provided an accurate definition of the problem that all theodicies attempt to solve, which resides in reconciling the goodness, the power and the intelligibility of God. Jonas demonstrated that these three attributes are irreconcilable. We propose, however, that renouncing God’s powerful action of Creation, as he suggests, remains unsatisfactory. Taking into account God’s liberty, inversely, allows us to believe in a God that is good, powerful and intelligible despite the existence of evil. It also forces us to disobjectify and dedogmatise our discourse concerning God. It compels Christians to face the problem of God’s relation to the existence of evil by starting not from the Creation but from the Word through which, in Jesus of Nazareth, God provokes them to an encounter. It even incites Christians to prefer the doctrine of Providence to that of Creation. It especially allows them to understand themselves anew in front of God, despite the evil that constantly exposes them to the temptation to despair both of God and of themselves.

Resentment and narrative hospitality. Reviewing Ricœur to the test of wounded memories
In contemporary African societies, resentment—nurtured by colonial wounds, identity struggles, and historical injustices—continues to undermine social, political, and cultural cohesion. This study examines the corrosive effects of resentment and explores possible paths toward reconciliation. Drawing on Paul Ricœur’s philosophy, it considers how an ethics of narration can open a dialogical space of memory in which the plurality of narratives can be reinterpreted. Narrative hospitality emerges as both a hermeneutical and political response to the fragmentation of collective narratives. Grounded in justice, agapē, and human dignity, a politics of recognition appears as a necessary condition for rebuilding social bonds in postcolonial contexts.

Building a new Christian metanarrative? Eilert Herm’s and David Kelsey’s epistemology and dramaturgy
By organizing a discussion between David Kelsey’s theological anthropology and Eilert Herms’ systematic theology, we demonstrate that it is possible, after postmodern criticism, to weave a relationship with the concept of metanarrative that is neither naïve nor depreciative, but reflexive. An examination of Kelsey’s and Herms’ epistemologies and dramaturgies leads to the conclusion that the Tübingen theologian develops a metanarrative of the meaning of life, while the Yale theologian unfolds a metanarrative of flourishing in life. In a pluralistic society, the discussion of different metanarratives fosters the ability to accept that every grand narrative remains limited, imperfect, open to criticism, yet indispensable as an instrument that opens up a mobilizing horizon for action.
